County Attorney

The Saunders County Attorney is an elected partisan position with a four-year term of office.  The County Attorney’s Office reviews law enforcements, determines appropriate charges, and prosecutes offenders for all felony and misdemeanor violations of state statute which occur within the jurisdiction of Saunders County.  The County Attorney is considered the top law official in Saunders County.  The County Attorney is on duty 24 hours a day for coroner calls and to assist law enforcement with emergencies.

Additional Duties

In addition to criminal court prosecutions, the County Attorney’s Office is responsible for:

  • Juvenile delinquency prosecution
  • Child abuse/neglect petitions in juvenile court
  • Termination of Parental Rights Petitions
  • Child Support Enforcement
  • Civil litigation on behalf of Saunders County
  • Board of Mental Health Commitments
  • Tax Foreclosures
  • Representing the County at the Tax Equalization Review Commission
  • Inheritance Tax review
  • Providing legal support to the County Board of Supervisors and other county officials
  • Grand Jury review of in-custody deaths
  • County Coroner duties
  • Representing the State at the 5th Judicial District Problem Solving Court
  • Participating in the Nebraska Human Trafficking Task Force for the Southeast Region
