County Clerk

The Saunders County Clerk’s Office has a wide variety of duties. Marriage licenses are issued in our office as are tobacco licenses and liquor licenses. The Clerk’s Office also pays all the bills for the County as well as payroll for all county employees.   The Clerk must countersign all vendor and payroll checks issued by the Board which have been signed by the chairman.  The County Clerk is the Secretary to the Board of Supervisors and Board of Equalization; keeps the agendas and records the minutes for these Boards.

The Saunders County Clerk is ex-officio Election Commissioner.  The County Clerk shall have the powers and perform the duties assigned to the election commissioner except in those counties which have an election commissioner as provided by section 32-207 or 3-211.  Our office conducts all State and Federal Elections as well as any Special Elections.  We maintain all voter records.

Birth and death records are NO longer filed at the County level. Records are available at the State of Nebraska Bureau of Vital Statistics.

The County Clerk Office does NOT handle Motor Vehicle Titles; they may be obtained through the County Treasurer’s Office.
