Public Defender

We are court appointed to represent those people who are charged with crimes in Saunders County and who cannot otherwise afford to hire a private attorney. We cannot give legal advice on any case in which we have not been appointed. Our representation extends to all critical stages of criminal prosecution and includes investigation, representation in court, and appeals. We assist our clients by providing them with accurate information concerning the charges, evidence against them, and help advise them of their rights and potential defenses. Our clients make the final decision as to whether or not their cases go to trial, or whether they are settled in some other fashion. In addition to performing criminal defense duties, we also represent juveniles and parents in juvenile proceedings, people facing contempt proceedings, respondents in paternity cases, and those brought before the Board of Mental Health.
